《DIY Moss Creations: Terrariums, Kokedama, Potted Plants, and Living Walls》

These scenes not only bring a natural, tranquil atmosphere to your space but also offer a relaxing and mindful hobby. With this book's detailed and intuitive guidance, you’ll be able to bring the beauty of nature into your everyday life.

Note:
This book promotes the use of clean, cultivated moss to avoid disrupting wild ecosystems. Pure moss is also key to successful projects.

Author’s Preface

Moss is a small, humble plant that can be found almost anywhere. When placed inside a glass container, it becomes a delightful indoor accent. Its small size and approachable nature make it ideal for those new to plant care.

Having previously published two books on moss terrariums, I’ve grown even more eager to share the appeal of moss cultivation. This time, I took on new challenges like kokedama and moss potted plants. After countless trials on my Tokyo balcony, experimenting with growing methods and species, I’m finally able to share what I’ve learned.

In this book, I refer to moss-based creations as “moss micro-landscapes.”

To be honest, kokedama and moss potted plants are slightly more advanced forms of moss care. If you can provide a good environment on your balcony or in your garden, and if you can find enjoyment in the task of watering, you’ll be able to grow beautiful moss. Outdoor cultivation also allows for growing species that are difficult to maintain in terrariums. For those who wish to grow kokedama and moss pots indoors, terrarium methods are also included.

While moss micro-landscapes may seem like mere decorations, the real joy lies in the cultivation process. After crafting a beautiful scene, the most rewarding part is observing how the moss changes and grows with time—offering a uniquely personal experience of nurturing and appreciation.

This book presents a variety of ways to enjoy moss, but none are absolute rules. If any of them inspire you to welcome moss into your life, then I’ll feel truly fulfilled.
