Joern Pollex lives in Hamburg, Germany, with his wife and two children. His journey into aquascaping began when his kids received their own aquariums, sparking his curiosity about creating underwater landscapes.
With a professional background in photography, Joern developed a keen eye for composition and lighting—skills that naturally shaped his aquascaping style and gave his works a distinctive visual impact.
His aquascapes have not only attracted attention on Instagram but have also been featured in international aquascaping contests and professional aquarist communities. Known for his philosophy of letting plants grow freely with minimal trimming, Joern’s style reflects a deep respect for the natural world.
During his creative journey, Joern discovered ONF lights on Instagram. Their award-winning design, natural tones, and plant-optimized spectrum immediately resonated with him. Today, ONF has become an essential part of his aquascapes and the heart of his personal “ONF Corner.”
Joern draws inspiration from photography, long walks in nature, traveling, jogging, and spending time with his family.
For him, the most fascinating part of aquascaping is the ability to build a complete ecosystem at home—his own piece of nature in a glass container.
